PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – A near halt in business statewide will cause a severe jolt to state revenues this year.
Dave Owen, President of the South Dakota Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says a special session of the legislature will be critical.
Owen, a long-time legislative lobbyist, says lawmakers may have to adjust the current year budget, too.
Owen says cuts are likely to next year’s budget.
A date has not yet been set, but Governor Kristi Noem has said she will call a special session once they have a few months of tax reports.
