GETTYSBURG, S.D.(KOKK)- A Gettysburg man awaits charges in Potter County from an incident in Gettysburg earlier this month.
On June 10th the Gettysburg Police Department and Gettysburg Ambulance were dispatched to KJ’s Inn and Suites in Gettysburg for a male in his 50’s who had overdosed.
57 year old Selwyn Jones of Gettysburg was treated and released by medical personnel. Selwyn was taken into custody by the Gettysburg Police Department.
A search warrant was obtained and executed by the Gettysburg Police Department. Jones was arrested for drug charges including possession and ingesting a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.
He is being held in the Hughes County Jail in Pierre and will have his initial court appearance on July 25.
Two others face charges including 32 year old Tarin James of Gettysburg. Tarin is charged with possession and ingestion of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. Tarin is being held at the Faulk County Jail in Faulkton.
Charges are also pending for 28 year old Morgan Poss of Rapid City. The incident is still under investigation with more charges pending.
Jones gained national attention three years ago following the death of his nephew George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The Gettysburg Police Department was assisted by county sheriff departments from Corson, Potter, Campbell and Sully Counties and the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
