PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – China imported a record amount of U.S. corn in November and also boosted imports of dried distillers grains, an ethanol by-product. Incoming South Dakota Corn Growers Association President Scott Stahl says that’s very encouraging for corn growers.
He says hearing about more DDGs being exported is also encouraging and shows the importance of the Renewable Fuel Standard and its impact on corn farmers.
Stahl says demand for U.S. corn and renewables just keeps growing.
China bought 12 times more U.S. corn in November than in 2019 and Customs data shows that for the first 11 months of 2020, imports more than doubled to nine million tons.
