PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- Governor Kristi Noem ushered in another season of Christmas at the Capitol Tuesday night as the Grand Lighting ceremony took place in the Capitol Rotunda. The theme this year is Through a Child’s Eyes and Noem says that is should be a reminder this holiday season.
Noem has been an advocate for foster families during her time as Governor. Lighting the Capital Christmas Tree this year were members of the Chris and Abby Martinez family of rural Vivian in Lyman County. Abby Martinez says fostering has been a part of their life from the beginning.
Martinez says adoption has made positive changes in her life.
The Christmas at the Capitol display is open to the public from now through December 26th from eight am to ten pm.
