City Manager Joe Gaa announced his resignation

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- Aberdeen City Manager Joe Gaa made it official that he will be resigning as City Manager effective September 8th.

Here’s his resignation letter he sent to the City Council member on Tuesday, August 15th:

“It has been my honor to serve as your City Manager since June of 2020. I feel that we have accomplished a great deal of success in my time here and I have enjoyed seeing the community move forward. Today I accepted an opportunity to return to Iowa, where my city management career began. In September I will begin my duties as City Administrator in Marshalltown, Iowa.  Leaving Aberdeen is bittersweet, but I rest assured that you will find a willing and qualified municipal manager to become your next City Manager. I ask that the Council accept my resignation with a final date of September 8, 2023. In addition, I remain committed to assisting in the transition, albeit remotely, as you see fit.”

City Manager Joe Gaa enjoyed his time in Aberdeen.

The Aberdeen City Council approved the resignation on a 7-1 vote.  Councilwoman Tiffany Langer was the only one who voted to oppose the resignation.
