City moves mosquito spraying to Thursday night

ABERDEEN, S.D. (Press Release) – The City of Aberdeen has canceled the scheduled city-wide ground spray for mosquitoes on Wednesday, July 1 and has scheduled a city-wide aerial application for mosquitoes for Thursday, July 2 between the hours of 8 p.m. and 1 a.m.

Mosquito Control surveillance program has noticed a high number of mosquitoes being collected in the traps as well as an increase in the Culex species. The Culex species is the most common carrier of West Nile Virus. You can reduce the risk of getting West Nile Virus by eliminating mosquito habitat around your property, applying insect repellents and wearing proper clothing when outdoors.
