BRANDON, S.D. (KELO.com) — The City of Brandon held a news conference on Wednesday to quash fears its drinking water is unsafe.
City Administrator Bryan Read says someone altered legitimate test results and posted them online.
Read refused to speculate about who may have put up the bogus results, but says its more evidence that you can’t believe everything you read or see on the Internet.
He said, “Anytime someone falsifies records to try to undermine consumer confidence in the drinking water, that’s worse than yelling fire in a crowded theater.”
A state official at the news conference noted that Brandon has received a safe water award for the best 18 years.
