PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- The Pierre City Commission approved moving forward with a pilot program to replace residential water meters in the city. Utilities Director Brad Palmer says the current meters are reaching the end of their usefulness.
Mayor Steve Harding asked Palmer about installing the meters for the pilot and Palmer says it will be a joint effort.
Palmer says the Kamstrup system has improvements over the current system installed a decade ago.
Three-hundred meters are included for the pilot and 200 will go to replace non-operational meters. Palmer hopes the pilot study could be completed by the middle of next year. Dakota Supply Group will administer the study.
