YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- The City of Yankton continues to engage with FEMA over updated flood maps.

Community and Economic Development Director Dave Mingo says the city is challenging the FEMA work maps.

The city saw widespread flooding from the bomb cyclone in March of 2019. Mingo says that doesn’t have much of an effect on the current mapping efforts.

Mingo says the final maps could have an impact on most of the city.

Mingo says they may see the next round of flood plain maps this summer.
