Clark man charged with murder by Attorney General’s Office

WATERTOWN, S.D.(KXLG)- South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley today announced that a Clark man, 34-year-old Bowen Fladland, has been charged with First-Degree Murder and Second-Degree Murder in connection with the death of a Clark resident. The victim has been identified as Marlene Flatland, the suspect’s mother.

In an exclusive interview, Attorney General Jackley provided further details on the ongoing investigation.

Regarding the timeline of the incident, Jackley noted that while the discovery of the body occurred on July 8th, the charging documents allege the death occurred earlier.

The next steps in the legal process for Fladland will include a bond hearing, during which he will be informed of the charges and his constitutional rights.

Fladland is presumed innocent under the U.S. Constitution as legal proceedings commence.
