Clayton Randall To Coach Northwestern Wildcats (HS) Football

ABERDEEN, SD (HubCityRadio.com) – The Wildcats of Northwestern Area High School have a new head football coach, his name is Clayton Randall.

Randall brings stability to a football program that’s been in flux for the last few years. Randall will be the fourth coach in the last four years, but he brings a wealth of knowledge and a winning way to Mellette. At his last high school coaching stop, Randall took the Herreid/Selby Area Wolverines to the Dakota Dome in 2022 & to the 9B state title game against Hitchcock-Tulare, ultimately falling short of championship gold.

Randall talks about how the job came to be.

Now that we’re in the summer, there are opportunities to get the kids together and partake in ‘open field’ events. Randall says the numbers have been solid & growing so far for those & it’s a program that’s excited to taste success.

Randall says he has three ‘non-negotiables’ when it comes to becoming a Wildcat football player, they are…

One of those big pillars of the program was being coachable. Randall talks about how that ranges far beyond the football field; it’s important when it comes to life.

Randall wants numbers this year for the Wildcats & to build the program. That’s not just the result on Friday nights, he wants young men to be surrounded by great leaders to help them grow.

His first home game will be against his former team, the Wolverines of Herreid/Selby Area. Randall talks about what that moment & matchup will be like for him.

The Wildcats open their season against the defending state champion Chargers of Sully Buttes in Onida on Friday, August 22nd.
