Clayton says state still has adequate hospital capacity

STURGIS, S.D. (KBHB) – With the increasing number of hospitalizations over the past few days, State Epidemiologist Joshua Clayton Thursday says they are still showing adequate hospital capacity.

Dr. Clayton also provided a monthly breakdown on hospitalizations since the pandemic began.

In Western South Dakota, Monument Health reports 20 COVID-19 related patients within their system as of Wednesday. That is far less than the high of 43 realized in June.

Monument Health says they have capacity for a surge in patients, but say they are not seeing that now.
