CO2 pipelines addressed at Watertown City Council meeting

WATERTOWN, S.D.(KWAT)–More discussion about carbon sequestration pipelines at Monday night’s Watertown City Council meeting.

It came during the public comment period of the meeting.

Rita Brownlee, who lives on the southern edge of Watertown just east of the ethanol plant, has been a vocal opponent of the Summit Carbon Solutions pipeline.

The topics she brought up Monday night struck a familiar theme–safety concerns and landowner rights.

Then she made a statement regarding the safety of the pipeline, without citing any specific facts.

In closing, Brownlee said.

Last week, Summit Carbon Solutions had their application for the North Dakota portion of the pipeline rejected, but they plan to re-file that application.
