Codington County Commission discuss putting stop signs near Florence School

FLORENCE, S.D.(Press Release} It was brought up at last week’s Codington County Commissioner meeting to add four stop signs by the Florence School near a new addition opening soon by County Road 23.

Commissioner Troy VanDusen, a former Police Officer currently the Watertown Regional 911 Dispatch Center Manager, commented.

Codington County Highway Superintendent Rick Hartley talks about attracting driver’s attention.

Hartley says it will be another month before they open that part of the school across the street, so there will be some time to acclimate.

Superintendent Reed has fielded complaints.

Commissioner VanDusen confirmed with Reed that some teachers will assist children with the transition for at least a few weeks.

Hartley says the entire project will cost around $650.

There was no official action on the agenda, but the project is under the $1,000 threshold, and with a unanimous consensus,  Commissioner Myron Johnson said to “Get er done.”
