Codington County Commission receive report on Veteran Services

WATERTOWN, S.D.(KXLG)- Codington County veterans experienced an increase in compensation during February, and the Veterans Service Office reported increased activity, according to the monthly report presented to the County Commissioners by Veterans Service Officer Todd Rose this week.

Todd Rose, addressing the Commissioners, detailed a nearly $21,000 increase in monthly compensation for Codington County veterans and their dependents during February 2025.

Rose outlined the Veterans Service Office’s current workload, noting 181 open claims specifically for Codington County veterans, with 74 awaiting action from the VA and 67 completed year-to-date. For Hamlin County, for which Codington County provides veteran services, there are 10 open claims, two of which were completed this year. His office is also currently assisting 13 veterans from outside Codington County and has completed three out-of-county claims.

Veteran transportation services remain active, with two transports completed in February and three already scheduled for March, utilizing a team of 8 volunteer drivers.
