Codington County Commissioners to debate yield or stop sign at intersection near Pelican Lake

WATERTOWN, S.D.(KXLG)- At the Intersection of 449th Avenue and 177th Street Southwest of Pelican Lake, the current yield signage is being questioned after a near-fatal crash.

Today’s Codington County Commissioner meeting discussed whether to replace the yield signs with stop signs.

Codington County Highway Superintendent Rick Hartley explains.

Commissioner Troy VanDusen clarifies the reasoning.

Hartley says it’s hard for cross-traffic to see when the corn is high. He continues all Codington County roads are 55 mph unless otherwise posted.

VanDusen wants to see the intersection reviewed.

Hartley talks about another instance.

VanDusen elaborates on the necessity.

Commissioner/Chair Lee Gabel requested it be on next week’s agenda.
