WATERTOWN, S.D.(KXLG)- At the Codington County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, the Commissioners discussed allocating office space for a new Senior WIC secretary at the Codington County Health Nurse Office. Kayla Amen, the Northeast Dietitian Manager, and Rhonda Buntrock, the State WIC Director, presented the request.
They explained that the new position would serve Codington County and the broader Northeast region, making Watertown a central and strategic location for the role.
Commissioner Myron Johnson had some “unanswered questions.”
The individual would be employed through Career Match Solutions, a State of South Dakota contractor. Amen and Buntrock assured the board that the contract with Career Match Solutions included provisions for supervision and evaluation. They also mentioned that existing office staff would report any attendance issues.
The conversation then shifted to the financial aspect of the arrangement, which triggered negotiations from Commissioner Johnson.
This fee would also cover shared amenities like the bathroom and parking lot, which includes snow removal services.
The necessity of amending the existing WIC contract with Codington County to include the new office space arrangement and the agreed-upon fee was discussed. This amendment would ensure that all parties formally understood their roles and responsibilities. The commissioners decided to proceed with drafting this amendment and planned to review it at the next meeting.
The Commissioners unanimously approved the motion to allow the Senior WIC secretary to utilize the office space starting Monday, September 30th, 2024, pending the finalization of the amended WIC contract and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the State Department of Health.
