PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – An interim South Dakota legislative committee is working to come up with possible revisions of drug laws that would include more treatment options.
The “Offenses Regarding Controlled Substances” committee met last week in Pierre.
Committee Vice Chair, Senator Craig Kennedy of Yankton, says they are moving toward some agreements.
Kennedy is pushing for a change that charges those who ingest drugs with a felony.
Kennedy says they are looking at several treatment options.
The committee will meet again this Friday.
