YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – The “Mental Health of First Responders” interim committee of the South Dakota legislature met again last week.
The committee is working to find resources for first responders in dealing with the stress of their jobs.
Committee vice chair, Representative Ryan Cwach of Yankton, says they are getting a lot of information.
Cwach says they heard about the effectiveness of peer support groups.
Cwach says they know there are gaps in available resources between cities and rural areas.
The committee is scheduled to meet again next month and in December. Cwach says they hope to have some bills for the 2021 legislature to consider.
