Company helping Sioux Falls to prepare for flooding

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls has a man from Florida to thank for the unique flood wall system being used to protect homes near Tomar Park.

Buzz Waid came all the way from Fort Myers, Florida to help oversee the use of his Trap Bag system.

Waid says the free-standing system takes only a fraction of the time it would take to build a barrier with sandbags.

Waid sold his first system in Fargo in 2011 and has sold hundreds of miles since, all over the country. The barrier in Sioux Falls will be over 2,000 feet long.

He says it’s not as waterproof “as a Rolodex”, but it will get the job done.
