ABERDEEN, S.D.(Aberdeen American News)- Brown County’s ordinance outlining guidelines for medical marijuana establishments will be considered by the county commission next month.
Meanwhile, the board approved some fee adjustments during Tuesday’s regular meeting at the courthouse.
Medical marijuana establishments can be a dispensary or facilities for cultivation, manufacturing or testing. Each will require a conditional use permit from the county. The fee has been set at $500.
Planning and Zoning Director Scott Bader said the county’s conditional use permit fee is $200 unless it’s a feedlot operation. Conditional use permits for feedlots are $300. Bader said the $500 fee was set because of the extra work needed due to the extensive background checks needed for medical marijuana establishments.
The board also set the hearing dates for the county’s medical cannabis ordinance, which will be Nov. 9 and Nov. 16.
