Congressman Johnson addresses a variety of topics

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- Congressman Dusty Johnson was in Aberdeen earlier this week and we had an opportunity to conduct an interview addressing his stay here as well as what’s happening in Washington.

Congress was able to avoid a government shutdown by doing a CR to fund government through December 11th.

Congressman Johnson discuss goals Republicans had to get the funding done for now.

Johnson discuss how important to try to somewhat address the $35 trillion deficit before the end of the year.

Johnson provide an update on the upcoming Farm Bill and is optimistic that it will be done by the end of the year.

Johnson also talked about a bill they are working on to have E15 fuel done anytime during the year basis rather than just seasonal.

Earlier this week, Executive Director for Safe Harbor, Gina Karst file a report about what’s happening there.  A big concern is funding needed for the program.  Congressman Johnson discuss the grant money that used there as well as other similar type businesses across the state.

Johnson talks about his time in Aberdeen this week.  He spent time at the Finery talking with EDGE, some of the young entrepreneurs here in town.  Next he had an opportunity to tour the ATEC Academy at Aberdeen Central High School.  He was very impressed by what he saw there.

On Thursday, Johnson hosted the 3rd annual Level Up convention at NSU.  He was impressed by how much awareness the high school students in the region are.

Afterwards, he an opportunity to tour Agtegra plant here in Aberdeen.  They expressed to him a big concern that they would like to see address in Washington.

Congressman Johnson will be at Gypsy Days(Northern’s Homecoming) coming up on Saturday.
