Congressman Johnson in Aberdeen Thursday

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- Congressman Dusty Johnson was in Aberdeen Thursday and spent time at the Brown County Fair.  Prior to that HubCityRadioNews caught up with him to address what’s happening out in Washington.

We asked him about what concerns if any he had about SDPB with the passage of the recissions bill that eliminated funding to Corporation for Public Broadcasting that deals with PBS & NPR.

Johnson offer to advice he would give to SDPB.

We addressed three key national issues for the remainder of 2025.  On the Farm Bill, Congressman Johnson talked about provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill that may make the Farm Bill easier to pass this year.

Johnson discuss the possibility that MCOOL(Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling) for beef products could be included in the upcoming bill.

Johnson provide an update on NDAA(National Defense Authorization Act) that address defense spending.

We also address government spending and possibility of a shutdown looming in September.  Johnson discuss biggest issue involving this.

Johnson was asked who’s under more pressure to avoid the shutdown, the Republican House members or the Senate Democrats.

Johnson talked about his view on CRs that will likely will take place to avoid a shutdown by September 30th.

September 30th is the deadline to avoid a government shutdown.  That date also marked Congressman Johnson’s 49th birthday.
