Corps dropping releases from Gavins Point Dam

YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – The Corps of Engineers is dropping releases from Gavins Point Dam on the Missouri River near Yankton three thousand cubic feet per second to 27 thousand cubic feet.

Gavins Point Project Manager Tom Curran says dropping levels on Lewis & Clark Lake could cause some problems.

Curran says they hope to get the lake back to a more normal elevation.

Curran says releases from Ft. Randall Dam are having a tough time getting to the lake.

Normal winter releases from Gavins Point in the past have ranged between 12 and 15 thousand cubic feet per second.
