Corps making progress on snowpack monitoring system

OMAHA, Neb. (WNAX) – Following the floods of 2011 in the Missouri River basin, state and federal officials asked the Corps of Engineers to develop and install a snowpack monitoring system across the plains.

Kevin Grode with the Corps office in Omaha says they are making progress on the planning and development.

Grode says they have contracts with most of the states in the basin.

Grode says they expect more work on the system next spring.

The system will report on the amount of water that could potentially flow out of the plains snowpack and into the Missouri River system.
