OMAHA, Neb. (WNAX) – The Corps of Engineers is hurrying to get Missouri River reservoirs to winter storage levels before they ice over.
Mike Swenson with the Corps in Omaha says releases from Gavins Point Dam will hold steady for a few more weeks.
The Corps says those releases may begin stepping down around Nov. 23.
Swenson says the flood storage continues to drop.
Swenson says high releases from a couple of the big lakes will continue for a while.
Runoff into the Missouri River basin system is already the second highest on record, behind only the 2011 flood year.
