COVID cases continue to climb, no new deaths reported

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – South Dakota’s number of COVID-19 cases continues to climb.
The state added 149 new cases along with 130 new recoveries to push the number of active infections to 1,570 today according to the South Dakota Department of Health. There were 1,194 active cases one week ago.

The state’s death toll remained the same at 161. Overall, the state has had 11,425 confirmed cases and 9,694 recoveries. There are currently 65 people hospitalized because of the virus.
Locally, Brown County added six new cases and now has 88 active infections. The county’s death toll remains at three.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had a total of 4,924 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 1,070, Lincoln County with 795, and Beadle County with 616.

According to the Department of Health, there are 70 cases of COVID among K-12 schools in the state, with 46 being students and 24 being staff members. There are also 71 cases among the state’s colleges and universities.
