COVID cases continue to soar, no new deaths reported

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state’s number of COVID cases continued to soar, but there were no new deaths and not much movement in hospitalizations according to information released by the State Department of Health today. South Dakota had 334 new confirmed cases, along with 196 recoveries, pushing the amount of active infections to 3,013 (there were 2,000 one week ago). The state’s total of COVID-related deaths remained at 169 and hospitalizations associated with the virus decreased by one to 76.

So far, South Dakota has had 14,337 confirmed cases and 11,155 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 22 new cases of the virus and 14 new recoveries, increasing the amount of active infections to 144. In all, the county has had 718 confirmed cases, 571 recoveries, and three deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 5,457 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 1,536, and Lincoln County with 952. Other county totals include Beadle with 642, Clay with 413, Brookings with 402, Codington with 372, and Meade with 324.
