PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – Search and rescue crews in Pierre recovered a man from the Missouri River in Fort Pierre Monday morning. The Pierre Fire Department’s Rescue Squad and Dive Team were dispatched Monday around 7:50 a.m. by Central South Dakota Dispatch to a report of unoccupied pickup and boat trailer at the 5th Avenue boat ramp in Fort Pierre. The pickup and boat trailer were backed into the boat ramp.
As rescue teams arrived on scene they observed the truck and trailer at the ramp and could also see an unoccupied boat floating downstream. A Pierre Dive Team member was deployed into the river and recovered an adult male who was located in the boat ramp area. The man was transported to Avera St. Mary’s hospital by AMR Ambulance. The Stanley County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. Assisting at the scene were the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department and South Dakota Highway Patrol.
