Honey was born in Yankton, SD, on September 7, 1939, to Randall “Ran” and Frances (Udstuen) Godfrey. Following graduation from Yankton High School in 1957, she pursued her professional passion in nursing and graduated from Northwestern Hospital College of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN.

After graduation, she married the love of her life, Kermit Born. Married for 61 years, Kermit and Honey built a home filled with love, laughter, and an enduring partnership, creating a legacy for their children and grandchildren.

Honey was a dedicated health care provider in Home Health services for over 40 years. She was employed by the State Hospital in Yankton, SD, the Brown County Health Department, the South Dakota Department of Health, and lastly, Avera Home Health, serving patients who were homebound. She was dedicated to her patients and went above and beyond to ensure their care. Honey’s patients made sure to recognize her dedication, often stopping her in the grocery store to swap stories and catch up. Honey’s attention and interest in her patients’ lives were appreciated and admired by many.

Honey enjoyed spending time at Enemy Swim Lake with her family and friends for over 30 years. She was a dedicated member of PEO, loved playing Bunco, and engaging in Book Club with her friends. She was amusingly known to her friends as a top customer of QVC.

Honey is survived by her husband, Kermit; children: Craig (Kathy) Born of Metamora, MI; Tage (Tony) Born-Hanson of Aberdeen, SD; and Jack (LeAnn) Born of Waubay, SD; She was so proud of her seven grandchildren: Alexandra, Nicholas, Taylor, Randall, Jacob, Noelle, Connor, and Adam. She was very excited to welcome her first adorable great-grandchild, Eden.

She will be greatly missed by her brothers, William “Bill” and Jack Godfrey of Las Vegas, NV.

She made the world brighter with her presence and will be greatly missed.
