SOUTH DAKOTA(WNAX)- Voters in Kansas this week rejected a constitutional amendment that would have placed severe restrictions on the ability of people to seek out abortion services.
That caught the attention of Rick Weiland with the group “Dakotans for Health” that is planning an abortion rights amendment petition drive in South Dakota.
Weiland says the issue is gaining momentum across the country.
Weiland says voters should have the final say on these type of issues.
Weiland says they hope to have the language of their amendment approved by the Secretary of State so they can start gathering petition signatures in November. Those have to be turned in by November of next year to get it on the 2024 general election ballot.
