Dakotans for Health seeking signature to place repeal of grocery tax on the 2024 general elections

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(WNAX)- With the approval of language for their petition seeking to repeal the sales tax on groceries, “Dakotans for Health” will rapidly mobilize.

Co-founder Rick Weiland says they are getting their teams put together.

The group is also working on a constitutional amendment assuring abortion rights.

Weiland says he believes the sales tax repeal petition drive will be relatively easy to complete.

Governor Kristi Noem had earlier said she would also sign a petition.

Noem had backed a grocery tax repeal in the legislature, but an overall point three percent rollback was passed instead.

Deadline for petitions is in early November.
