Dakotans for Health wants to see evidence of petition violations

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- They want to see the evidence so they can respond.

That’s the position being taken by Dakotans for Health, the group behind a petition drive to make abortion legal in South Dakota.

Rick Weiland is asking Attorney General Marty Jackley to show him the evidence behind Jackley’s letter of warning about possible violations by petition circulators.

State Representative Jon Hansen of Life Defense Fund says petition circulators aren’t following state law and are being deceptive with potential signers.

Weiland says he’s confident there will be enough valid signatures to place the measure on next year’s election ballot.
