The Pros and Cons of Data Centers have been debated on many levels, generally on the political stage with both sides seldom heard equally. Dr Kate Stoll is a project director at AAAS Center for Scientific Evidence in Public Issues. She took time to help sort through the facts and both sides of the issue, locally nationally and globally. Jobs are a major benefit.. but Stoll cautions to be aware that they are primarily temporary.
Another concern we’ve heard about is water and power use..
Dr Stoll also touched on Health concerns, and short of diesel engines for backup generators, she says there really isn’t much to be worried about from what they’ve seen nation wide.
Data Centers are not as Cookie Cutter as you might expect and are operated differently. Stoll said, asking questions is paramount to understanding.
