PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- About two hundred million dollars in housing grants and loans has been stuck in Pierre over a difference of opinion. The legislature authorized the Housing Authority to spend the money, but their authority only covers low income housing. Governor Kristi Noem wanted her office of Economic Development to handle the money.
Dave Owen, President of the state Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says it’s a dynamic issue.
Owen says it’s a matter of details.
Owen says he expects a bill will move rapidly through the session.
The money is designed to help with the infrastructure needed for housing developments.
