Deal will give raises to schools, employees, providers; fund hemp program

PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem says a budget deal has been worked out to provide funding increases to three important groups.

Noem, during a news conference today referred to her State of the State Address.

Noem says the deal will give two percent increases to schools, state workers and Medicaid providers.

Noem says there is also a deal in place to fund the industrial hemp program.

Noem says it took quite a bit of negotiations between her staff and legislative leaders. The House & Senate will have to sign off on the budget before the session adjourns on Thursday.
