SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — A Dell Rapids man charged with molesting girls at sleepovers has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
In handing down the maximum sentence, Judge Susan Sabers told Torin Lodmell that he preyed upon the trust of children and their parents. Lodmell pleaded guilty to four attempted rape charges and six other counts were dismissed in a deal with prosecutors.
The girls were all in fourth through sixth grades at the time of the assaults from 2013 to 2017. Authorities say the girls were sleeping over at the home of a classmate who is related to Lodmell.
The Argus Leader reports the mother of one young victim said the community of Dell Rapids “should sleep better knowing this monster is behind bars and can’t be a danger.”
