Democratic candidate for Governor, Robert Arnold talks more about his campaign

PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- A 19-year-old Pierre college student announced last Saturday his intention to seek the Democratic nomination for governor in the 2026 race.  Many candidates have established themselves through election to the legislature or some other office before attempted the leap to Governor.  Robert Arnold says there isn’t time to wait.

Arnold says his party has taken a hands-off approach to his campaign.

Republicans have had a firm grip on South Dakota politics for decades, but Arnold sees an avenue to break the mold.

Arnold says people are surprised, but supportive of his intentions to run and hopes to earn the respect of voters despite his young age.
