ABERDEEN, SD (Hub City Radio)
Citizen Dennis Jones gave a lengthy history of the 4H Home Arts Building on the Brown County Fairgrounds in an effort to delay the demolition of the aged building to make room for new. Jones, emphasized the legacy and historical value of the “Woman’s Building” but facts were presented that overrode the sentiment. Rachel Kippley, Fairgrounds Manager said the building is beyond repair.
Patricia Kendall Director of the Dacotah Prairie Museum voiced her views on function and practicality versus emotion.
She went on to say the legacy of the building and it’s honoring of all that women have done to make this country great can be kept alive in the new Home Arts Building.
The Commission did not move to delay the demolition.
