PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- Denver Air Connection, the regional airline serving Pierre and Watertown under the Essential Air Service program was the only such airline to submit a bid to serve central South Dakota. Airport Liaison to the Pierre City Commission Jamie Huizenga says Denver Air has included east routes within three possible options for service.
The contract terms for all three options are for the typical two-year term. Huizenga also read from an email sent by Denver Air Business Development Director Jon Coleman. Coleman says Denver Air is ready to make it’s service better than before.
SkyWest Airlines did not submit a bid to serve Pierre or Watertown. The bids will be reviewed by city officials to make a recommendation to the United States Transportation Department. Pierre has until January 20th to make a recommendation. While the city can make a recommendation the U-S D-O-T has final say in selecting what option is picked.
