Denver Air Connection to contract Pierre & Watertown airports through July

WATERTOWN, S.D. (KWAT)–It was merely a formality, but this week, the U.S. Department of Transportation extended Denver Air Connection’s Essential Air Service contract to serve airports in Watertown and Pierre for up to two more months.

The original four-year contract expired May 31st, at which time SkyWest was to take over air service in the two cities.

However, due to schedule planning and resource availability, SkyWest informed the Department it will not be able to start operations at Pierre and Watertown until August 1st.

The extension of Denver Air’s contract means continued service for Watertown and Pierre until that date, or until SkyWest can begin service, whichever is earlier.

SkyWest will serve Watertown with flights to Denver and Minneapolis-St. Paul, and flights from Pierre to Denver.
