YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- A consultant’s study of the Human Services Center in Yankton will be the centerpiece of a plan by the Department of Social Services to make changes to mental health programs across the state.
Social Services Department Secretary Laurie Gill says much of what the consultants concluded was based on the limits of available workers for the Human Services Center.
Gill says they will look at other ways to streamline the delivery of mental health services.
Gill says it will be an ongoing, multi year process.
The report says the Human Services Center should be limited to a two hundred bed capacity, with other services provided at the local level by partner agencies.
