WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNAX) – Details are still being worked out for the next round of federal payments to ag producers from the tariff fall out.
The ongoing trade war with China has severely limited export markets.
South Dakota Senator John Thune says the U.S. Ag Department has spent down most of their available funding.
Thune says he expects the Ag Department to ask Congress for more money for the next round of payments.
Thune says the Ag Department has not yet set spending limits on the payment plan.
The Ag Department has said the payments will be based on acres planted in a producer’s home county.
