PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- If you travel South Dakota’s interstate system you will notice some new digital message boards next year. Christina Bennett with the South Dakota Department of Transportation says the state’s current system of information boards are getting old and beyond their useful life.
South Dakota will replace all of the current board and add one with help from Montana’s Department of Transportation.
Bennett says the new board will be vastly upgraded from what’s currently alerting drivers on Interstates 90 and 29.
The South Dakota Transportation Commission awarded a two-point-seven million dollars bid for the project to Muth Electric of Mitchell. Work on the sign replacement will begin in the spring of 2025.
