ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- Update on District 1 House Representative-Elect Christopher Reder: Earlier on Tuesday morning Reede text out to a close group the following:
“Many will not understand, but this last year I have had the best year and worst year of my life. Due to circumstances, others fears and things beyond my control, it has unfortunately been changed forever. So due to health and several other reasons, today I will be resigning my seat in the SD HOR. I wish you all the best, God bless.”
HubCityRadio received the following text from Reder about his status:
“Thank you for reaching out, I have been having some unexpected health issues recently that I am trying to work through. That text this morning was intended for a close group chat text that inadvertently got forwarded to many other people and then released. I am still unsure of the future depending on how the health conditions work themselves out, so at this time I am just asking for some time and space to figure out what my health will allow and how I could serve District 1 the best.”
No resignation at this time.
If he does resign, according to South Dakota Law:
Article III, Section 10 of the South Dakota Constitution says:
Filling legislative vacancies. The Governor shall make appointments to fill such vacancies as may occur in either house of the Legislature.
