DAKOTA DUNES, S.D.(WNAX)- Legislative candidates are spending a lot of money and time campaigning ahead of next month’s election.

Bill Shorma of Dakota Dunes is running for a House seat in District 17.

Shorma, a republican, is running on his private and public service experience.

District 17 has been redrawn since 2020 now including Vermillion, Dakota Dunes and Elk Point. Shorma says that is more compact.

Republican Chris Kassin of Vermillion says he is hearing about soaring prices.

Kassin says the legislature can do some things to help.

Kassin says he has interest in many other issues too.

Democrat Rebecca Enquist-Schroeder of Vermillion says small businesses need more representation.

Enquist-Schroeder says she is hearing from voters.

Enquist-Schroeder says a lot of voters are upset with the political climate.
