District 24 legislators talk the progress being made on renovations on Capitol Lake

PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- Last year, the South Dakota legislature approved funding authority of over three-million dollars to renovate and save Capitol Lake and it’s war memorials.  District 24 Representative Will Mortenson says they are still working hard to make it happen.

Representative Mike Weisgram says the current economic climate is not helping the cause.

Senator Jim Mehlhaff intends to fully support what Mortenson and Weisgram have established.

In addition to changing the water source and capping the leaking artisan well, two additional memorials are being considered for the site.  One is the Sioux Code Talker memorial and the second would be a memorial to Operation Iraqi Freedom.
