District 3 legislators discuss pipeline related bills that was debated by the SD Legislature

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- During the KSDN Midday Report on Wednesday, legislators representing District 3 which is most of Aberdeen talked about their opposition to SB201 which deals with the issue of local control.

Representative Carl Perry who served on the House Commerce & Energy Committee talked about HB1219 that dealt with the issue of eminent domain.

Perry & Representative Brandei Schaefbauer disagreed on two of the bills HB1185 & HB1186.

Perry talks about his support of HB1185 that among other things dealt with the $500 going to landowners to survey.

Schaefbuaer opposed the bill and stated the $500 wouldn’t have dealt with what happened on Jared Bossly’s property.

Perry talks about his support of HB1186 with provisions.

Schaefbuaer opposed it because it didn’t go far enough for landowners.

Senator Al Novstrup was opposed to both of those House bills.

HB1185, HB1186, & SB201 was passed out of the South Dakota Legislature following conference committees on them.

All three Aberdeen legislators were opposed to SB201.  Senator Novstrup talks about how this changes the rules.

Representative Schaefbauer talks about her views on the Landowners Bill of Rights.

Representative Perry compares this bill to HB1133 that was passed by the South Dakota House last year.

Representative Schaefbauer talks about what the county commissions can do to prove their ordinance should stay in place when they present it to the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission.

Senator Novstrup talks about his concern about the pipelines in the area.

A group is looking to gather signatures on a petition to place a referendum on the November ballot to repeal SB201.
