DOT changes look of 511 webpage

PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – The South Dakota Department of Transportation has changed the look of the state’s 511 traveler information webpage.  Dave Huft is Research Program Manager for the D-O-T and says South Dakota’s web portal to safetavelusa.com just needed an update.

Huft says basic information like traffic cams and winter road condition will remain the same, but some new features are being added.

The phone-based 5-1-1 is now capable of voice recognition.

Huft says the changes are ultimately about keeping the motoring public safe.

The changes will also be noted on the 5-1-1 app available for smartphones and other devices.
