DOT hopes federal funding will continue at current levels

MITCHELL, S.D. (WNAX) – The South Dakota Department of Transportation is holding their annual STIP, or state transportation improvement programs meetings around the state. Although this year they are being held online.

During the Mitchell area meeting Wednesday night, D.O.T. Engineering Director Mike Behm said they hope federal funding will continue at current levels.

Behm says state fuel taxes may drop, which would hit the state share.

Behm says they are moving ahead with all their planned projects.

Major projects in the Mitchell region over the next few years include several in and around Sioux Falls and replacement of the Platte – Winner bridge over the Missouri River.
